In Shakespeare's romantic comedy, Hermia and Lysander are forbidden to marry, so the two lovers flee into the woods, followed by scorned suitors Demetrius and Helena. Things get confusing when the fairy Puck misfires a magic charm, causing Lysander to reject Hermia and fall in love with Helena. A hysterical side story has the Fairy Queen lusting for a donkey-headed man.
