Moli?re, translated into English verse by Richard Wilbur
Alceste decides he will live and speak only the truth, but, alas, he is hindered by the hypocrisy of his social circle and the machinations of love. He is also humbled by his own double standard. He falls in love with a lovely woman who epitomes the falseness he despises. When he and his friends gather, it makes for one satiric cocktail party.
