As Yasmina Rezas God of Carnage opens, two couples meet for a civilized discussion. Their sons have just had a violent playground encounter, and the two sets of parents have decided to work out an agreement that arranges for the boys to work out their differences in a "civil" way. You'll probably recognize these people. They might be your neighbors, your co-workers or perhaps your friends. But back to the story... Our couples get together one evening to discuss that playground incident. It seems that Alan and Annettes son hit Michael and Veronicas son in the face with a stick, resulting in two broken teeth. The four of them agree to discuss the incident calmly, but, as the night wears on and drinks are imbibed, the polite veneer breaks down. As the insincere air of cooperation fades away, the battles between them begin. After all, as one of the characters observes, How many parents, when standing up for their children, become infantile themselves?Winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play, God of Carnage becomes a sophisticated spectator sport in which highly skilled actors take on roles that allow them to rip the stuffing out of one another, tear up the scenery, stomp on their own vanity and have the time of their lives. Robert Meek, Roxann Hales, Heather Hughes & Luke Hales star in this outrageous comedy opening Friday at CCCT.Come watch the Carnage ...
