J.L. Dean Productions is a faith-based theater company whose mission is to use our J.L.DEAN PRODUCTIONS FOUNDER Ja’Mel Dean is a graduate of Norfolk State University and has obtained his Masters in Music Education. He teaches Elementary Music for Norfolk public schools. He has had the opportunity to teach several theater classes and has performed in numerous shows including Tarzan, Freedom Train (Ben),The Wiz, Jungle Book (King Louie), Once on this Island (Agwe/ Papa Ge), Lion king (Scar), Color Purple( Preacher/Grady), Theatrix’s Big River (Jim) and most recently Little Theater of Norfolk’s production of Chicken and Biscuits (Reginald Mabry). Ja'Mel has also Directed and written several shows which included, “Devil came to church”, “What she won’t do for Love”, and “Shackles Lounge”. He is also a song writer, and several of his songs have been used in independent plays. He is the founder of J.L.Dean Productions, a faith based theater company on a mission to spread powerful messages through the Arts. Founded with a vision to combine artistry and spirituality. As Antoine reflects on his experiences, he is forced to confront the secrets, shame, and guilt that have held him back for so long. Through a mix of humor, vulnerability, and heart-wrenching honesty, Antoine's story unfolds as he embarks on a journey of self-discovery and growth. Told from a black male perspective, Reflections is a poignant and timely exploration of men's mental health, encouraging audiences to join the conversation and support the healing process. With its blend of nostalgic 90's inspired music, Reflections is a groundbreaking musical that breaks down stigmas surrounding black men's mental health, urging men to speak their truth and seek support.
