What has 24 strings, 40 fingers, and lives north of the 49th parallel? The Canadian Guitar Quartet, who are performing on Tuesday, March 26 at 7:30 pm. This free concert takes place at Baruch Performing Arts Center, on East 25th Street between 3rd and Lexington Avenues in New York City. Admission is free, reservations are required. Complete concert details are available at www.baruch.cuny.edu/bpacFounded in 1999 and hailed for "second-to-none ensemble playing," the Canadian Guitar Quartet's dynamic mix of original music and classical repertoire has earned them a reputation as one of the finest guitar ensembles in the world. On March 26, the quartet performs an exciting and diverse program that includes compelling arrangements of Brahms' Hungarian Dances, string quartets by Beethoven and Ravel, and original works by Patrick Roux and quartet member Renaud Ct-Gigure. "I really like that their music has a sense of play and their arrangements reflect that," says Ted Altschuler, Director of the Baruch PAC.This concert is made possible through the generous donation of Aaron Silberman, Baruch alumnus of 1946 and amateur clarinetist.
