Heather Sorenson, a pianist known for choral, piano, and orchestral works, presents the Carnegie Hall premiere of These Ancient Words, following Pepper Choplin's highly acclaimed cantata, Our Father. Sorenson’s six-movement, These Ancient Words, is built on foundational Scripture passages. Using her trademark rich chords and soaring melodies, she delivers an all-original work that inspires and compels, conducting hundreds of singers, and the Distinguished Concerts Orchestra with Danielle Wojcik and Layke Jones as Soloists. Commissioned by the family of David Glenn Thompson in the face of his dementia diagnosis, These Ancient Words commemorates his life-long love of choral music. Mr. Thompson will participate as a singer of the Distinguished Concerts Singers International in this concert. Pepper Choplin presents his acclaimed cantata Our Father, powerful music about faith and worship that combines artistry and ministry using traditional phrases from the King James Bible and modern English for clarity and poetic flow. The work will be performed by Distinguished Concerts Orchestra and Distinguished Concerts Singers International with Kelsey Mathis and Jack Branning as soloists.
Carnegie Hall is at 250 W. 57th Street, Floor 19, New York, NY 10107, New York.
