For one night only, acclaimed stage and screen actor Richard Thomas (“The Americans,” “The Waltons”) brings to vibrant life one of the giants of American dramatic literature, playwright Tennessee Williams. Spanning Williams’s life from his seminal younger years in St. Louis to the successful Broadway opening of The Glass Menagerie more than 20 years later, this illuminating one-man show weaves together his casual love affairs, tormented family relationships, exotic travels, brushes with the rich and famous, and his eventful early career. This was the raw material that Williams fashioned into theatrical masterpieces like A Streetcar Named Desire, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and Suddenly Last Summer. At turns humorous, poignant, and highly personal, A Distant Country Called Youth reveals Williams as a writer as poetic and passionate in his letters as he was in his masterworks.
