Palo Alto Players, the first theatre company on the Peninsula, will hold its fourth annual gala fundraiser on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at the University Club of Palo Alto. The evening, entitled EAST MEETS WEST, is inspired by the companys upcoming production of FLOWER DRUM SONG and will include selected songs from the David Henry Hwang revival of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, a guest performance by the Grant Avenue Follies dancers, exciting silent and live auctions, and the second annual Dessert Dash. All proceeds from the event will be used to further the companys mission of providing high quality, performing arts programming to the community with all local artists and expand the organizations community outreach initiatives. Tickets (starting at $150) and tables can be purchased online at paplayers.org or by calling 650.329.0891.This years gala fundraiser is inspired by our upcoming production of FLOWER DRUM SONG set in San Franciscos Chinatown and celebrates Eastern and Western culture meeting and influencing each other, said Managing Director Elizabeth Santana, about the galas name choice, EAST MEETS WEST. And since it is Saint Patricks Day, well have a little luck of the Irish sprinkled into the evening as well. Theatre, at its very core, helps people with different viewpoints, at different places in life, find commonality through a shared experience. What better way to do that than bringing together our great local artists, theatre audiences, and community leaders for a night of celebrating our cultural influences and giving back to the arts in the community.
