Casa de Mañana, an original play by Naomi Iizuka, is set to debut at the Hermitage Artist Retreat in October 2026. This dark comedy follows an underemployed theater artist attempting to create a play based on the stories of residents in an assisted living facility, only to find that they have their own secrets and struggles. The play raises questions about storytelling, truth, and the value of human connection in times of chaos. Iizuka, an accomplished playwright, is the 2024-2025 recipient of the Hermitage Major Theater Award, which supports new theatrical works with significant funding and residency opportunities.
