At a press conference held May 28 in the Davies Takacs Lobby of the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre, the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) announced 282 nominations for the 40th Anniversary Dora Mavor Moore Awards, which recognize excellence in professional theatre, dance and opera in Toronto. On Tuesday, June 25 at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, 49 Dora Mavor Moore Awards, the Silver Ticket Award and the Jon Kaplan Audience Choice Award will be presented.

Second Stage Theater has announced complete casting for the Broadway production of Tracy Letts's Linda Vista. Directed by Dexter Bullard, the production will feature Ian Barford (Wheeler), Sally Murphy (Margaret), Caroline Neff (Anita), Chantal Thuy (Minnie), Jim True-frost (Paul), Cora Vander Broek (Jules) and Troy West (Michael).

Tulsa Opera concludes its 2018-19 season this May with performances of Mozart's Don Giovanni, featuring American-born, Germany-based transgender baritone Lucia Lucas in the title role, which marks her main-stage U.S. operatic debut and role debut. Performances take place at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center on Friday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 5 at 2:30 p.m.

The first edition of "FRENCH FASHION WEEK NEW YORK" will take place in Manhattan, September 4 to 8, 2019. The ambition is to bring together a variety of actors of the French fashion industry to promote this major French industry in the United States. Initiated by the US Committee of France's Foreign Trade Advisers (CCE) and by French Touch USA, this event addresses a double antagonistic observation: French fashion is one of France's leading exporters, but is greatly under-represented in the United States, one of the world's largest importers of fashion goods. Approaching the US under the "French Fashion Banner" French Fashion Week New York will be a unique opportunity for the various American audiences (industry professionals, buyers, distributors, showrooms, influencers, media, investors and consumers) to discover some of the "best Kept Secrets" of French fashion, many coming to the US for the first time. Another important objective of French Fashion Week New York will be to facilitate connections and help generate business interactions with the US market players. The event will also support small companies of great talent who are often key players in French fashion but do not have the resources to come to the US alone.
