As we welcome the unofficial beginning of summer with the Memorial Day weekend and make our way on into June, I trust you will want to include attending a couple of the numerous shows currently playing (some of which will bring their run to a close THIS week!) at one or more of the many theatre and live performance establishments here on the California Central Coast!
I've been writing a weekly article for BroadwayWorld.com about all of the theatre happenings here on the heart of the California Central Coast for nearly 3 years now. On any given week, there are somewhere between 15 and 20 live entertainment and theatre venues offering quality entertainment to the residents of the Central Coast and those who come to visit our little piece of Paradise!

BELLS ARE RINGING, the next staged reading of MUSICAL THEATRE WEST'S REINER READING SERIES, will take place tonight, May 20, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.
REAL MEN SING SHOW TUNES...and play with puppets will premiere at the Actors Playhouse July 11 - August 12, 2012. With book, music & lyrics by Paul Louis & Nick Santa Maria, this is a song-filled adult comedy about real men behaving like, well...REAL MEN. Get an inside glimpse of what it takes to be a man in a modern world shared with women, children, and yes, even puppets. REAL MEN, who make a habit of juggling their balls every day; fatherhood, mid-life crisis, dating, marriage, potency, sexuality, and the lack of it. REAL MEN, answering the one pertinent question that's on everyone's mind, "Do REAL MEN sing show tunes and play with puppets?"

For the first time in the company's history, Ventura's RUBICON THEATRE is transferring a production to the legendary LOBERO THEATRE in Santa Barbara. On the heels of a critically acclaimed, sold-out run at Rubicon's home in Ventura's Downtown Cultural District, the world premiere musical HELLO! MY BABY will play at the Lobero Theatre for three performances only this weekend - tonight, May 5 and tomorrow, May 6. Described as a 'Tin-Pantastic New Tuner for all ages,' the show is conceived and written by Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner and Tony Nominee Cheri Steinkellner, who is also a longtime Santa Barbara resident. The Norris Center for the Performing Arts will present the classic comedy, "Arsenic and Old Lace," April 27 - May 13. A smash hit when it was first produced on Broadway in 1941. Joseph Kesselring's wickedly funny, madcap masterpiece about a wildly eccentric family is one of the most popular American stage plays of all time. A film adaptation, directed by the legendary Frank Capra, and starring Cary Grant, became an international box office success.

Fan favorite Sherri Shepherd was eliminated on last night's DANCING WITH THE STARS. Shepherd is an actress, comedienne and co-host of ABC's hugely popular daytime talk show, 'The View.'
Rock Week returned last night on DANCING WITH THE STARS, with KISS opening the show with a spectacular performance of 'Rock and Roll All Nite,' accompanied by the Troupe. Bringing lots of leather and lots of fire, the remaining ten couples performed to some of the greatest Rock songs of all time.

The Bay Area premiere of San Jose Rep's God of Carnage begins previews tonight. This winner of the 2009 Tony Award® for Best Play was written by Yasmina Reza and translated by Christopher Hampton. The production runs from March 22 to April 15, 2012, with Opening Night on Wednesday, March 28 at 7:30 pm.
